Carlos Alcaraz will take on Casper Ruud in this year’s men’s final at the US Open in New York. The final will see a new Grand Slam winner crowned, with both Alcaraz and Ruud gunning for their first major title of their careers. Not only that, but the winner on Sunday will also make the move to the top of the world rankings for the very first time. Ruud was the first man to book his place in Sunday’s finale, as he defeated Karen Khachanov 7-6, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 on Friday. This weekend’s final is not the first time the Norwegian star has made it to the last two of a Grand Slam event, after he was defeated in the French Open finale earlier this year by Rafael Nadal. Following his win in the semi-final, Ruud admitted to acting during his clash with Khachanov, to hide the fatigue he was going through. He said: “I tried to not show Karen that I’m tired because I don’t want him to think that, ‘This is tiring for Casper. There is acting in sports. Tennis especially. It’s such a mental and psychological game that any small detail can help you win the match. I don’t know how I’m able to do it.”JUST IN: Ons Jabeur admits she ‘doesn’t like’ Iga Swiatek after losing US Open final to Pole
