Rafael Nadal has been called out by Bosnian Damir Dzumhur for failing to help other tennis players in the same way that Novak Djokovic does. The world No 192 has also suggested that the Serb tries to improve the tour and better conditions for his colleagues in a subtle dig at the Spaniard’s personality. Nadal has had the upper hand on Djokovic on the court this year having won two major titles to the 35-year-old’s one. They have faced off directly just once all year with the Spanish icon prevailing in a four-set victory at the French Open on his way to claiming the tournament trophy. He also claimed silverware in the Australian Open while the Serb took the Wimbledon crown. The two legends are now set to line up alongside each other this week as they represent Team Europe in the Laver Cup at the O2 Arena in London. It is set to be a somewhat wholesome event with the competition becoming a chance to say goodbye to Roger Federer after the 20-time Grand Slam champion announced he would retire from tennis after the tournament. However, it appears that Dzumhur did not get this memo and he has called out Nadal for his actions toward other players on the tour. He believes Djokovic does more to help the sport – something which is not replicated by Nadal. JUST IN: Dan Evans shares what ‘king-like’ Federer is like behind the scenes”Roger it’s hard to see this day and put into words all that we’ve shared in this sport together,” he wrote.”Over a decade of incredible moments and battles to think back on. Your career has set the tone for what it means to achieve excellence and lead with integrity and poise. It’s an honour to know you on and off court, and for many more years to come.”Looking forward to celebrating your achievements and seeing you in London.” All three of the tennis legends will take to the court during the event in the English capital later this week as the sport says goodbye to one of its favourite sons.
