Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto has attempted to pile more pressure on the FIA over potential sanctions on world champion Max Verstappen. The Dutchman is set to win his second successive title at the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend, having qualified on pole for Sunday’s race.But his dominance of the 2022 campaign has been overshadowed by allegations that Red Bull exceeded the budget cap in place for 2021. The FIA is set to reveal the identity of two offenders on Monday, having delayed the announcement of their investigation.Both Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and Binotto have already hit out over the potential breach, with Aston Martin reported to have been the second team at risk of being sanctioned. Red Bull chief Christian Horner has insisted they’ve done nothing wrong though, accusing rivals of trying to divert attention away from Verstappen’s imminent title win.However, should Red Bull have been found to have exceeded spending by a significant amount, then the young protege’s 2021 championship win could yet be in doubt.
