Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard has backed Mikel Arteta turn around the club’s form and has sensationally targeted winning the Premier League within the next few years. Arteta is under serious pressure to improve Arsenal’s results after a shocking start to the season. The Gunners are bottom of the top-flight after three matches and seem miles from achieving Odegaard’s ambition. Arteta’s side have not scored a goal in games against Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City. They were thumped 5-0 by the latter before the international break, evidencing the huge gap between the club and the Premier League’s elite. The Arsenal boss and technical director Edu Gaspar completed a huge £130million overhaul to improve the squad over the summer and one of the new signings was Norway captain Odegaard. A successful half-season loan from Real Madrid last term was turned into a £30m permanent deal. Odegaard made his second debut in the thrashing at the Etihad Stadium but has revealed big plans for the future. The 22-year-old insists that the club’s fortunes can be turned around soon enough to win the club its first top-flight title since 2004. JUST IN: Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City comment on international banArteta has been handed a boost as new signing Takehiro Tomiyasu has been granted a work permit and could feature. The Japan international can play at right back or at centre back, where Arsenal have struggled for form. Arteta is hopeful that most of his squad will be available to face the Canaries. The Spaniard has not yet had a fully fit squad and expects the club’s results to improve when players return from injury. “I’m really looking forward to having everybody available and to try and start the season the way we want. We don’t want to use any excuses,” Arteta told reporters on Thursday. “We know how difficult the start was with injuries and covid issues and extremely difficult games we had to play. “We have to reset now, get everybody back on track and start winning games which is what we have to do.”
