Former world super middleweight champion George Groves believes a blockbuster heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is a “win-win” for AJ, who is looking for revenge after losing to Oleksandr Usyk again in their rematch.Negotiations are ongoing over a fight between the pair, with plans for a meeting on December 3 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Fury’s promoter Frank Warren confirmed in his Daily Star column that contracts have been sent to Joshua’s team and he is confident the fight will happen.”I don’t anticipate there will be any problems,” Warren wrote. “We all want this fight to happen. There is a will on both sides to make sure it does which is great. This will be one of the biggest fights in British boxing history if not the biggest.”Joshua is coming off back-to-back decision losses to Usyk, having lost by unanimous decision in their WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight title fight in September 2021 and then losing the rematch by split decision in August this year.JUST IN: Tommy Fury branded ‘a wasteman’ after latest fight falls through”It’s a win-win for him in terms of what people actually perceive of him right now. He won’t be the favourite going into it, so if he wins, he’s a hero, if he doesn’t, no harm no foul.”Groves also suggested it could be the perfect time for Joshua to face Fury given he has been repeatedly in and out of retirement following his successful title defence against Dillian Whyte in April. “Fury’s ‘retired’, so it might be the right time to fight [him],” Groves added. “He [Joshua] might catch him off guard. Who knows?”
